What is an Asian handicap?

The Asian handicap is a market that allows you to bet on a team by giving them a goal advantage or disadvantage at the start of the match to balance the match. A team can therefore be virtually in the lead before the match starts.

The Asian handicap offers more possibilities than a normal handicap bet, as you may be able to get part or all of your bet reimbursed.

Handicap (0) This corresponds to the bet “Reimbursed if draw”. If the match is a draw, your stake will be fully reimbursed.
Handicap (+1, +2, -1, -2, etc.) This type of bet allows a goal to be added or taken away from the team of your choice at the end of the match. If, by adding your handicap and the final result, you get a draw, your bet is reimbursed. Let’s look at a concrete example. You bet on Standard de Liège Handicap (-1) against KAA Gent: if Standard win by 2 goals difference or more, you win your bet. If Standard win by 1 goal difference, your bet is reimbursed. If Standard draw or lose the match, you lose your bet.
Handicap (+0.5, +1.5, -0.5, -1.5, etc.) Your stake is divided into two different bets. Let’s look at a concrete example. You stake €10 on Standard - Handicap (0.75). This means that €5 will be placed on Standard - Handicap (-0.5) and €5 on Standard - Handicap  (-1.0). If Standard win by 2 goals difference or more, you win your whole bet. If Standard win by 1 goal difference, you win half your bet (H-0.5) and are reimbursed the other half (H-1.0). If Standard draw or lose the match, you lose your whole bet.
